ANGLER’S LISTEN UP! Here is a new link that you can check to see if they are running water through the generators below the dam. Normal pool with no generation is 12.5 on the river level gauge. Anything above 12.5 means they are probably running water. The higher the number on the river gauge the more units are generating. This link also shows Cubic Feet Per Second being generated. This gauge does not measure flood gates release or Lake Hudson Level. Please use extreme caution and follow all laws above and below area dams.

Is this considered a challenged fish?

From Picher

Hmmm yeah I don’t think I would eat that one lol

Looks deformed for sure

Scoliosis caught one a few weeks ago out of grand wolf creek area cleaned ate it. A lil hard to clean cuz the spine isn't nice and flat

Well that ain't right

Cut a piece off the tail...a 2 in piece, put it in a baggie...date.. were caught... bring it to the lead agency in Miami Steve Owens and A Southeast ... that fish was probably bit by a larger fish or bird

Me n my pops actually caught a few like that down below Pensacola dam in Langley and they still fight like a regular blue cat but when it comes to surface and we see it.....it has that deformity to it.....isn't the first time this has been seen by us

Probably concerning that we’re seeing deformed fish...

Thanks to gulf plant on spring river side riverton ks

Anorexia

Tar creek

bet spring river is more polluted than tar creek couple miles north riverton ks is a toxic waste site from the 50's

Locals and guides say those crooked tails caused by the ride they took over the dam during the flood when all gates open to 20' wonder they survived at al

More limits rolling in! Didn’t get to take my “lay em’ out” hero shot like normal because we cleaned them on Mr. Coopers dock. We had to work for them a little bit today. The bite continues to be late morning early afternoon with the fullmoon. Thank you guys for a great day! We have a couple opening for next week if you want out and get your mess of fresh crappie fillets!

Try the app, navyonics HD

Go to YouTube and search “the grand lake guy”and he shows where they are.

They don't brush grand, they dont do anything with grand. They do every other lake it seems.

Unlike most other lakes in the area, Grand is a privately created lake. Monitored by the GRDA, and not the US Corps of Engineers. That is why you can hone homes on the water and your own dock. The state does very little with Grand, so the GRDA and other local groups do what they can. I have been to the Rush For Brush many times. It is a great program. You supply the man power and they supply the materials. You can then take your share of what was made and place it anywhere you want in the area. I must have 60 of their "trees" around my dock! There are many places you can find brush, but remember the currents tend to move things around. So if you put stuff down be aware of the slope of the bank (things roll away) and the current during a storm (it is stronger than you think, even in a quiet cove). They sink those No wake buoys with like 60 to 250 pounds of weight, and they still break free and get lost! Imagine what brush will do. Also real trees disappear in a bout 3 years.

I don't have an answer to why the northeast lakes habitat sites haven't been added to the website yet, but here are the coordinates for the past 5 years.

The fishing report needs to read....if your not fishing right now, your missing out!
Crappie excellent on Minnows and plastics in docks and offshore brush. Try monkey milk 2.5” crappie kickers.
Blue Catfish are excellent drifting shad from 15 to 45 ft.
White Bass are excellent in evenings on points around governors island and goat Island. Try firecracker 2.5” go go minnows.
Black bass are hitting on long points and brush piles. Jigs, worms and cranks.
Bowfishing is getting much better as the lake finally stats to stabilize. Honey Creek has been great.
Fishing for whites and cats below the dam is excellent in the afternoon and evenings if they are generating.
Make sure to visit our area dealers and ask for Fle Fly or Team Catfish products. Looking for a multi Species boat? Check out the new Charger VMAG.

The hour or so before sunset seems to be the best time to go get whites. I have been doing well along the east side of snake Island just before and through sunset. For daytime fishing try around the docks for crappie, or the flats for Catfish.

Honey Creek

I’m really pleasantly surprised at the number of folks still interested in tent camping. Thanks for info

Honey creek has been our families favorite for years.. BUT they have a new camp host that even if you are minding your own business doing nothing wrong she will find something to yell at you about(yes i said yell) she hates her job and she is the nastiest, most hatefull person ive encountered in my 52 year old life and normally i just let people like her just roll off my back but this entire past week has been HELL..... apparently now too with the new boat dock if you do not have a boat tied to it you arent even allowed to walk across the parking lot to look at it. No intentions to go on it just want to check to see what the new looks like. All of her attitude in front of my 5 year old grandson. People like her have no business working around people when they apparently hate people.

Honey creek. Have camped there for many years. Love Linda the host. She has always been very helpful and courteous.

I’m new to fishing grand (catfish) but seems like the good spots are around Patricia and the other islands (bad and weed) along with south of sailboat And maybe catfish point . Can I get some advice on how to fish these blues ? What are their patterns right now ? I will be running a handful of jugs and drifting. Topo maps look goof around the islands and there are some great flats. I just want to see from the experienced fellers. Are y’all baiting holes with grain? What rigs are you drifting with or are you just straight lining it? Hook
Size??? And then the big question where is a good spot for big gizzard shad or shad in general. I imagine the shad shouldn’t be to hard . If a few of you guys want to dm me I would like to help find and keep a spot baited for eater fish to take people who do not fish much so they can actually catch fish. Glad I found this page and I’m glad most of y’all don’t mind sharing ur success because in my mind that’s what it’s all about!

I havent spent much time on the lake but below the dam can be on fire when the water is right. I drift 1/4oz on 3-5/0 hooks. Alot of people catch fish tied up to the cable below the generators but im too lazy to do that much work. Be careful if you try it down there and wear a life jacket atleast your first few trips.

My first time jugging grand was two weeks ago. Used live bluegill on an inside bluff edge where the water went from 10ft and dropped to roughly 20-24ft. All were caught on live bluegill on the two lower hooks. Hope this helps.

I usually set my jugs on SW side of Patricia Island in 15 to 25 ft of water. Mainly because I live in Port Duncan and it’s a short boat ride to keep them checked. I rarely go more than 2 to 3 hours without checking them. Shad are usually plentiful in the channel and small coves between the island and main shore this time of year. Shad are my first choice but perch work really well too. If you want good eaters (2# to 5#) believe it or not chunks of hot dog have even worked really well for me. If you want the big blues, 3” to 6” live shad or perch have been what works best for me. I prefer green sunfish over bluegill. We’ve caught blues around Patricia up to 36# and a flathead up to 20#

Out of business. A few bait shops purchased the leftovers and sold out a year or two ago. Main bait shop was in Grove. I put a want ad on Craigslist last May and bought a few. There awesome

We give them away at the tugnjugs tournaments.

Ive got about 8 or 10 of them that id part with.. only been used a couple times. I will have to count for sure in the morning..

I have a few of the Jugs by Bert also, and I agree they are great. But for any of you cost conscious guys, I also use 2 liter soda bottles. Once empty you can roll up a name, number and address and put it inside the jug. Thus you have marked it and it is legal. If you want, paint the bottom with florescent paint to make it easier to see. Tie a braided cord to the neck of the bottle with a Uni-knot, and they seem to hold great. Make your braided line have Barrel loop knots about every three feet, up and down the entire line. Then you can hook your leaders where ever you want. Make them all high, all low, or anywhere along the line. Tie your leaders with a Snap swivel so you can snap them on the loops! Take off your hooks and stow them when done. they drape nicely over the edge of a bucket hanging from the hook. Then wrap the braided line around the empty 2 liter bottle. If you can get the crates for the bottles you have super easy storage. If not they store about anywhere. My preference is Dr Pepper 2 liters. They seem to have a nice indent to wrap the line around. I also like 100 pound braided nylon line. Don't use fishing braid, it will cut you pulling it in with a big fish. I have a bunch of bricks around that make nice weights. Another snap swivel on the end of the line allows you to remove the weight as well. I find about 3 pounds is usually good. Remember only 5 hooks to a Jug line, and only 50 hooks total per day, if the rules are the same as they used to be. So even though you may have 15 or 20 barrel loop knots, only put leaders and hooks on 5 per jug. The picture is a barrel loop knot. They can be tied in the middle of the line, anywhere. I also try to make my leaders and hooks short. 3 inches should be fine and not tangle too bad. Do use swivels on the leader. The cats will spin and the swivel will help that. Shorter leaders help also. Be sure to put the snap part away from the hook. You want to be able to remove the snap swivel and the leader and the hook together. As the swivels rust, they are easier to replace that way, and it leaves you with a clean line to wrap up, fewer tangles. I also like Circle hooks. Getting it out of the side of their mouth is much better than out of their belly. I had one that was on a circle hook for 6 months. He had pulled the jug under a dock and lived there till another fish pulled him and the jug out where I could see it!

Gentleman that made them passed away and his kids haven't continued the business.

I am interested in any extra Jugs by Bert that someone has lying around.

What was the name of the guy who passed away?

Finally found this post. I have 5- jugs by Bert I’m willing to part with. Message me if your interested with an offer. To hard for me to see. Also lost one around the mouth of wolf creek last weekend if you find it it’s your.

Check out Okie Flippers. Same concept as Jugs by Bert. We are making them right here in Oklahoma. We have some in stock.

Been doing great at ft Gibson dam on bucktail jigs and rooster tails

Lots of posts here tell where they are catching White Bass. Most I see are in the evening just before dark, and along shallow areas. Governors Island, Sweetwater Hollow are near me but there are places all over.

Way 2 go bro, need some lessons

I got a live scope a few weeks ago and love it so far. Just curious are you just using it to locate the piles with fish? Everyone I have watched use it has used 1 pole so they could watch the fish take the bait. Just wondering how you see everything to make it effective spider rigging

Historical Blue Bluff Cleanup
A message from Mitch: we’re rounding up volunteers and we're making great progress on the tear-out and cleanup of the old dock. Our goal is to have the walls and trusses up for the new fish house starting here in about a week and a half. We have a raffle now for a free year's membership to the new fish House valued at $250. Drawing will be September 14th. Next drawing is for a crappie fishing tackle kit valued at $270. And a raffle for a gold-plated Henry rifle valued at $500. if you know anyone that would be interested in providing free labor to help me finish the tear out and clean up I could sure use their help this weekend also if anyone has tools and labor they could bring to help us go up with the walls the week after next that would be greatly appreciated the more progress we make the more people that will help donate to this historic (since 1956) public fish house. Any further questions about donations or volunteering please call Mitch Henderson 918-346-7495

Where can I find some "jugs by Bert" I can't find any ... See MoreSee Less

Comment on Facebook

Jugsbybert.com is where I would start. Bass pro did sell them. Sportscenter in Grove sells them.

I tried sports center and bass pro neither had any so i don't know if they stopped making them or what

How many are you looking for?

He. Lives by me. He is still selling them

Make your own

Sports center! Sam is the man!!

Indian hills had them earlier this year.

9186293919, direct number for Jugs by Bert. I get them directly from him

That number isn't a working number

Try honeycreek outdoors

Any word on jugs by bert availability?

Check out Okie Flippers. Same concept as Jugs by Bert. We are making them right here in Oklahoma. We stock available.

What timr did they surface

How much for 75 year old veteran and two grandsons 8 and 10

I am guessing, but I would bet most all the guides on Grand are now using the Live Scope. They don't wait for the fish to surface, they watch them hit the bait on their scopes! They know how deep to go and even what fish in the school is bigger! If you haven't seen demos of the live scopes google them!

Is this bait still available around grand??

Comment on Facebook

No

Haven't seen it in years. Used to be Layman's L&L blood

Why have they stopped making " chicken bood " catfish bait ?

Best stuff out there.

Should be able to buy it at the chicken processing place

Beef spleen holds together a little better

🤔

I was catching them on dead minnows and live bluegill this weekend.

Shad are free and there are a BILLION of them ....just do it the easy way. Catch some shad chunk them up and stick not on a circle hook . Hang on !!

Shad works best natural and easy to catch. Everything eats them

Ain’t that spoonbill liver chicken liver won’t stick to your hands like that

Next time you clean crappie, keep the rib cages in a sandwich baggie for your next catfish outing. Nothing works better.

15-25 foot, shad I’ve been finding in the backs of coves. Been doing good up around the sailboat bridge area fishing points.

Try coves for shad. Blues about 3 miles east of sailboat bridge on the flats. In about 30 feet of water and up.

The jug liners were tearing up in honey creek this weekend.

Blue bluff

that place got wacked by tornado might not get to fish it

The white bass can be caught, pretty much in any windy point right now.best at daylight and dusk

No 🌪️ just 110 mph straight line winds. Had a few rotations that night but nothing touched down.

Under sailboat bridge on grove side...typically always some white bass there.

Evenings at governors island or sweetwater usually has sandbass.

Honey creek park

There is pay for fishing at several places around, like Indian Hills Marina. I think they are $5 a day. I think you can pay a day fee at some of the state parks. And I have seen people fishing near bridges and other places. But yes there are places to fish. you may just need to look for them. Solve the issue and get a Kayak or a row boat! 🙂

No stripers but there is some fair size hybrids above and below the dam

A few years back I caught a 4 pound hybrid, but most of the hybrids are under 2 pounds! Still great eating. If you want really big fish, go for the spoonbill, or the blue cats.

Plenty of good sized hybrids below Dam

There are also a lot of good sized spotted bass below Grand dam

Caught a handful of 20+ pounders and ,12 to 15 pound fish regularly
