Floodwater release bulletin

At 2:30PM on Wednesday, July 7:

Grand Lake elevation was 744.31 feet. Daily target elevation for July 7 is 744 feet.

At the direction of the United States Army Corps of Engineers, one (1) floodgate was open at Pensacola Dam, discharging 7,258 cubic feet per second (cfs) of water.

Six (6) units were online at the Pensacola Dam powerhouse, releasing 12,780 cfs of water through generation.

Releases through floodgates and generation totaled 20,038 cfs.

Inflows into Grand Lake totaled 24,432 cfs.

Lake Hudson elevation was 620.18 feet. Normal elevation is 619 feet.

No floodgates are open at Robert S. Kerr Dam.

Three (3) units were online at Robert S. Kerr Dam powerhouse releasing 22,950 cfs of water through generation.

Inflows into Lake Hudson totaled 20,205 cfs.

The Grand River watershed consists of approximately 12,000 square miles of runoff in parts of Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma. Of that total, over half-7,000 square miles-is uncontrolled runoff, meaning there is no reservoir to control it above Pensacola Dam. However, the remaining 5,000 square miles of runoff passes through the John Redmond Dam, located near Burlington, Kansas, prior to reaching the Grand River system in Oklahoma.
