Grand Lake Shoreline Cleanup rescheduled for June 4
Langley -- Due to recent heavy rains
and flooding conditions on Grand Lake, the Grand River Dam Authority is
announcing that the annual “Lend A Hand For Lady Grand Shoreline Cleanup” –
originally scheduled for Saturday, May 7 – has been moved to Saturday, June 4.
“Even though the lake is slowly headed back down, after the
higher levels of the last few days, the decision was made to go ahead and
postpone this event until June,” said GRDA Corporate Communications Director
Justin Alberty. “We just want to be safe.”
While some advertisements have listed May 14 as the original
make-up date, Alberty added that organizers felt June 4 would be a date with
fewer conflicts.
“We are trying to get the word out as quickly as possible,”
said Alberty. “This event always draws great participation and we want the
public to be aware of the date change so they can plan accordingly.”
Times and locations will remain the same for the cleanup on
Saturday, June 4.
Dumpsters will be available from 9AM to 2PM at the Ketchum
Church of Christ; Bernice State Park; Water Works (Monkey Island) and Grove
Springs Park (O’Daniel Parkway in Grove). No household garbage or commercial
dumping of dock foam is allowed.
For more information on the event, which is made possible by
the combined efforts of GRDA and the Grand Lake Sail & Power Squadron
(GLSPS) contact GRDA at (918) 256 0644.
