Langley – The Grand River Dam Authority Ecosystems Management Department is announcing the dates and locations for its 2011“Rush For Brush” artificial fish habitat construction events. This year’s events will take place:

• Saturday, April 16 at Martin Landing on Grand Lake.

• Saturday, May 21 at Snowdale State Park

• Saturday, June 18 at Cherokee Golf Course

• All events are scheduled to begin at 8 AM

• Once the habitats are complete, volunteers are free to place them in their favorite fishing spots on Grand and Hudson lakes.

Rush For Brush workshops are a concentrated effort to improve the fish habitat in GRDA lakes. At the workshops, GRDA provides the materials necessary to build “spider block” artificial fish habitats and lake area volunteers provide the manpower. Working together the past four years, over 500 volunteers and GRDA have deployed more than 6,000 structures.
