GRDA Floodwater Release Bulletin – 10:00 a.m. 06/17/08

At 10 AM on Tuesday, June 17:

• Grand Lake elevation was 752.42 feet.
• Grand Lake flood pool was at 71.74 percent capacity.
• At the direction of the United States Army Corps of Engineers, five (5) floodgates were open at Pensacola Dam, discharging 24,100 cubic feet per second (cfs) of water.
• Six (6) units were online at the Pensacola Dam powerhouse, releasing 14,386 cfs of water through generation.
• Releases through floodgates and generation totaled 38,486 cfs.
• Inflows into Grand Lake totaled 32,411 cfs.
• Lake Hudson elevation was 631.88 feet.
• Lake Hudson flood pool was at 70.32 percent capacity.
• At the direction of the United States Army Corps of Engineers, two (2) floodgates were open at Kerr Dam, discharging 28,482 cubic feet per second (cfs) of water.
• Three (3) units were online at Robert S. Kerr Dam powerhouse releasing 21,330 cfs of water through generation.
• Releases through floodgates and generation totaled 49,812 cfs.
• Inflows into Lake Hudson totaled 44,321 cfs.

The United States Army Corps of Engineers' latest crest prediction for Grand Lake is 752.80 on Wednesday, June 18.

 

The United States Army Corps of Engineers' latest crest prediction for Lake Hudson was 632.50 to occur yesterday, Monday, June 16.

The Grand River watershed consists of approximately 12,000 square miles of runoff in parts of Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma. Of that total, over half—7,000 square miles—is uncontrolled runoff, meaning there is no reservoir to control it above the Pensacola Dam. However, the remaining 5,000 square miles of runoff passes through the John Redmond Dam, located near Burlington, Kansas, prior to reaching the Grand River system in Oklahoma.
